Yard Work: 1 - Tricia: 0

Owie. I cannot believe how much some yard work yesterday kicked my butt! The back of my thighs are so very sore today that it even hurts to sit down. All I did was clean the yard, but I guess I did too much squatting. At the time I didn’t have a clue that I would hurt this bad today. Sometimes I wonder why our bodies don’t give us a better warning to stop doing something so it doesn’t hurt so bad the next day LOL.

Surprisingly, my arms are fine given the amount of raking that I did. Since this is the first raking after a long winter, you really have to put some muscle into the rake to get up all of the leaves that have been pushed to the ground. I think those push ups have been working!

When it comes to exercising, I do prefer doing something like yard work versus spending some time on the elliptical. I like working on projects. There’s a bit of pride that I like to feel when I look back at a raked section of lawn and see how much better it looks. I like that satisfaction.

Don’t get me wrong, I do feel a sense of pride when I finish exercising on my elliptical. It’s a little different, though. Perhaps because there isn’t something immediate to show for it. Although, there would be something to show for it if I kept at it every day!

I didn’t do any more yard work today since I couldn’t bend over. Tomorrow, I will work through the pain and work on another section of our yard. I get some fresh air and get some exercise. It’s a good thing.

Weekly Weight Loss Progress - Up 2 Pounds

Yikes. I don’t like writing that I gained 2 pounds this week, but it’s the truth so I have to fess up and put it out there (although a few days late since my schedule is a bit off this week and I kept forgetting to weight myself first thing in the morning).

I didn’t exercise much at all last week. In fact, I was stuck in front of the computer most of the week. I have been eating well, though, so I have a feeling this week’s weight gain is due to some water retention.

Already this week, I’ve had at least one day of some activity. More on that in a little bit.

Weekly Weight Loss Progress - No Change

Another week of my weight staying steady at 218 pounds. It serves me right, though. I didn’t have much motivation at all last week. It seems as though whenever my schedule is disturbed by long hours at work…all heck breaks loose. I was doing so well there too!

Ugh.

Things are going to slow down here shortly, and I need to get back into a routine again. For a while there, I was hitting the elliptical in the morning and then after work I was doing some exercises on my exercise ball. I felt great.

Then overtime at work hit and I couldn’t keep it together. Hours sitting at the desk left me with pain in my knees so leg exercises were out of the question. I also didn’t have much energy left.

I think that is the biggest thing holding me back. It’s the excuse of not having enough time and having pain. I used to work through the pain when I was younger. I just give up now, and that has to change.

While it’s good that my weight is not increasing, I’d like to come on here and say that I lost some weight! LOL!

Weekly Weight Loss Progress - No Change

This week, there was no change in my weight. Thank goodness I didn’t gain a lot of weight because I went off the deep end one day and filled up on some bad sweets.

One thing that always seems to derail me are periods of stress. Last week was a very stressful week. My body starts craving sweet things and I give in to those cravings. I went to the store on Wednesday and bought a nice big bag of Reeses. When I grabbed the bag, I knew I shouldn’t even bring something like that into our house, but I did.

I also didn’t exercise much at all. Related to the stress, I was working more than normal. Instead of waking up and hopping on my elliptical, I was heading to work early.

I really need to figure out how to handle these times of stress in order to be successful with my weight loss journey. They are a way of life and I need to figure out how to work through them.
