Beating the Heat and Getting Some Exercise

The last couple days have been super hot and humid where I live. For the most part, the summers are mild. But when the humidity peaks, I am a miserable person all around.

Today and yesterday, we cooled off by taking a dip in the Lake. Oh my…it felt so good even though the water is chilly. My son loved it as well and he loves it when momma chases him. Mom likes it too, because it gets me moving!

Water really is an awesome place to exercise in. I mean, you feel lighter and you have the water resistance working in your favor. Even walking in the water gives your legs a workout. Because the water we were in was fairly shallow, I used my arms a lot (like legs) to pull me through the water. I also used my legs and did a few sprints of running through some deeper water.

Getting exercise, cooling off and having fun with my son. It doesn’t get much better than that.

I love water activities; I swim in the local pool during lunch breaks once a week, and take any opportunity to visit the ocean or one of the many lakes near where I live.

A couple of weeks ago I was dog-sitting for my in-laws, and spent some time swimming with the puppy. He had a good time and did a lot of sleeping once her folks came home.
