Seven Women That Can Proclaim, “I’m Half My Size”

I usually don’t buy magazines, but the Good Housekeeping on the shelf caught my eye. On the cover exclaimed a headline, “Half My Size.” I couldn’t help but pick up the issue.

Inside, I saw the before and after pictures of seven woman. Their combined weight loss was a staggering 1,062 pounds. Always looking for inspiration, I bought the issue.

The article did not disappoint. Maria Pappas (who was the featured cover model) lost 133 pounds in four years. Shelley Napier lost 206 pounds in 2 years.

None of the seven women lost their weight with surgery. Instead, they controlled their eating and exercised. Many of the women mentioned how they now run miles every week. In fact, Susan Haugland mentioned that her biggest payoff is that she now runs 15 miles a week.

If you are looking for some inspration, you can pick up the magazine or you can check out the Good Housekeeping article online. You have to click around a little bit, but it appears that everything that made the printed edition can be found there.

I saw that and was impressed that it wasn’t lost by surgery. I am not sure how I feel about weight loss surgery - a friend did it and then was disappointed she wasn’t losing more/getting into a single digit size. There are so many personal issues surrounding weight loss I think seeing a therapist of some sort should go hand in hand with surgery.

I’ve thought about surgery, but I couldn’t afford something like that. I also would be scared to go under the knife.

I read this today; amazing and encouraging.
