The Day After My First “Jog”

Going to bed last night, I was really curious to see how my body felt in the morning after jogging a little bit yesterday. To my delight, the only thing that hurt a little bit was my good ole right knee. Even before jogging, I knew it would have some pain because not even a block from our house I stepped on a larger rock and my right leg twisted. So I don’t think the pain is directly related to my jogging.

Overall, it is encouraging that I am not confined to my bed today and I have full mobility. I have so many fears of really hurting myself that it isn’t funny. I don’t want to hurt myself because I don’t like pain. I also do not want to have to go to the doctors and have to spend money. Then there’s the fact that I don’t like taking prescription drugs. I will if I have to, but I don’t like to.

I think it goes to show that I tend to overthink things too much, which I know I definitely do it with our finances. With exercising, I think I just have to listen to my body a little bit more and not rationalize every single little thing in my head.

Your body loves you today Trish!

One advantage of running (or walking) injuries is that they rarely involve prescription medications; most common remedies are over the counter anti-inflammatories, ice and rest.

Glad that you felt relatively well after your jog!

I have a really bad left kneeand a so-so right. I have a history of dislocating kneecaps. I just read a book called “You the owner’s manual.” It suggested talking glucosamine and chondroitin for bad joints. I have never been a fan of suppliments(I just recently started taking vitamins too) but I believe it really works. It’s supposed to strengthen cartilage and actually rebuild cartilage. After 2 months my knees don’t creak and I haven’t had any pain. The book (I got via the library) recommended 3 products that truly had what they say on the label. Since suppliments are not regulated they can have little if any ingredients it says it does.
The recommeded brands can be pricey. $40 for 2 months worth, but to me well worth it.
