Top 5 Things I Am Doing to Lose 100+ Lbs
This post was written to be included in ProBlogger.net’s Group Writing Project
So far in this short journey, I have determined that there are 5 things that I am going to do to make my weight loss a reality. Of course, each individual one can be expanded upon and some may morph into something slightly different. But these are the main areas that I will be working upon:
1.) Losing Weight Step #1: Eat Breakfast. I am not a breakfast eater by nature. If anything can make or break my quest to live a healthy life, I believe it is this one right here.
2.) Losing Weight Step #2: Drink Water While Dieting. I also am not a water drinker, yet water is so important to your health in general. It also has no calories! You can’t beat that!
3.) Losing Weight Step #3: Enjoy the Foods I Eat. There are things that are good to speed through, but eating is not one of them. I need to relax and slow it down and really enjoy my meals to prevent overeating.
4.) Losing Weight Step #4: Track and Control The Foods/Calories That I Eat. At first, I didn’t want to do this, but since giving it a try I have learned so much! The only way to really get a handle on my situation was to start tracking honestly what goes into my mouth every day.
5.) Losing Weight Step #5: Exercise!. It’s difficult to have the energy during the work week to exercise, but if I want to reach my goal weight in a year I have to exercise. I’m going to start small with 15 minutes a day and work myself up from there.
That’s it. The top five things I am going to do to lose 100+ lbs. They seem easy when you look at them, but it is going to take a lot of motivation to make it happen. But I can do it! I’m ready ![]()

I recently found a way to make eating a healthy breakfast easier. First, buy steel cut oats. These are very hearty whole grains - it does not look like regular oatmeal, which is a smashed, somewhat processed version of the grain. The oatmeal needs to cook on the stove for about 30 minutes, which is completely impractical for me every morning. But, I’ve recently figured out that it keeps well. So, I make one batch of about 4 servings, keep it in the refrigerator, and every morning all I have to do is heat up in the microwave and add some fruit and soy milk.
By the way…this is Oprah’s favorite breakfast.
Good stuff. I lost 30 pounds about 4 years ago and have kept it off. Might I make a few suggestions for your journey. 1. You are not on a diet. You have made a choice to change your lifestyle. 2. Be accountable to someone who you trust. I would recommend not mom or husband unless one of those two can truly support you through the difficult patches without inflicting undue pain. Find a good friend who can be honest with you and yet has either successful navigated this journey themself or truly knows how to be a support and coach. 3.HAVE FUN!!
I currently have a medical problem and I have put on about 4-5kg in 2 weeks. It’s very scary for me and I feel quite low about the whole thing but I know there is nothing I can do about it. Some days I would check and I would be 1kg heavier. I went to a Chinese doctor and she gave me some medicene for my condition. I have now started to loose some of that weight but also starting the day off with some breakfast of All Bran and milk (I never used to eat breakfast) certainly helped. With regards to water, I have a 1 litre drink bottle that I put lime in. Makes it a bit nicer to drink. Good luck and I really hope you reach your desired weight.
Brilliant! Your list is awesome, and contains the essentials. If I was to add anything it would be to make sure you keep a good inflow of fiber. Those little scrubbers really help to keep things moving through your body.
I’ve felt the joy of losing 100+, having come down from 396 to 190, and it’s sooooo worth it!
See you on the other side!

hi:
I am finding it so frustrating to lose weight all I want to do is eat for emotional reasons. My mom is driving me nuts and food seems to comfort me at the time.
Thanks for the advice… I think walking is a wonderful exercise. Walking non-stop one hour each day: This doesn’t have to be brisk walking. Walking outdoors is best. Or you can use stairs instead of lifts. That’s a great exercise.
