Weekly Weight Loss Progress: 3 More Pounds Lost

It felt mighty good to step on the scale this morning and see that I lost some weight since last week. I also lost 1% of my body fat.

The interesting thing is…I haven’t been as strict with my eating last week and ate more calories than usual, but still under the amount that I need to maintain my weight. I’ve heard before that your body can go into a little bit of a starvation mode if your calorie intake is too low. I wonder if I was cutting too many calories and my body hit a plateau. I’m just speculating here, because I haven’t read up on exactly how your body reacts to calorie deficiency.

In any case, I am happy I can update that total in the right hand side. It feels good to make some progress, and I am very close to hitting 20 lbs lost (again) LOL.

Hi Tricia,

So, are you using a particular diet or plan?

I may have to agree with you on the “starvation mode”. I am supposed to eat, per my fancy scale 2600 calories to maintain. On average, I eat about 1600 or less a day. Yet, my weight only goes up. Maybe I need to pig out and see what happens. Problem is, I get such a belly ache when I stuff myself.

And as I am typing this, I am remembering my youth when I could eat and eat and eat and never get full. Now, I can barely make myself eat 3 regular meals.

PS. I am going ot see a dr. (female) next week. Hopefully, she will listen to me and help me make a plan to be normal. I don’t need to be skinny, just need to rid some of the bad stuff associated with this heavy load.

Actually, eating too few calories is one of the best ways to ensure that you don’t lose any of your body fat.

When your body does not get enough calories, it thinks that a famine is coming and begins to store fat in an effort to have reserves until food is available again.

It is far healthier to eat 4 to 5 small meals every few hours than to have 2 or 3 large meals every day. If you eat a lot of food at once, your body can’t process everything as well as it might and most of it will pass through your system. If you eat a little bit all the time, then your body will know that there is plenty of food and will have the opportunity to get all of the nutrients that it needs from what you are eating.

Combine that with exercise, and you really don’t need to cut your calories very much below what you need to “maintain” your weight in order to lose weight.
