Weekly Weight Loss Progress - No Change
This week, there was no change in my weight. Thank goodness I didn’t gain a lot of weight because I went off the deep end one day and filled up on some bad sweets.
One thing that always seems to derail me are periods of stress. Last week was a very stressful week. My body starts craving sweet things and I give in to those cravings. I went to the store on Wednesday and bought a nice big bag of Reeses. When I grabbed the bag, I knew I shouldn’t even bring something like that into our house, but I did.
I also didn’t exercise much at all. Related to the stress, I was working more than normal. Instead of waking up and hopping on my elliptical, I was heading to work early.
I really need to figure out how to handle these times of stress in order to be successful with my weight loss journey. They are a way of life and I need to figure out how to work through them.

I’ve tried to slowly replace my “comfort foods” with healthier options. When I’m craving something sweet and might turn to chocolate I now turn fruitwraps/fruit leathers that are made entirely of pressed fruit. They’re super sweet (naturally), 50 calories, and fat free.
So next time you reach for the Reeses bag at the store, maybe grab the York peppermint patties instead (I find them equally delicious and less fattening) and then maybe the time after that you’ll grab something even healthier. Or if you’ve got to have a Reeses, get a two pack instead of a bag.
It’s all baby steps.
As far as the exercise, I still struggle with that when I am stressed too. I’m hoping I can find balance with that eventually, but it still often gets tossed aside when I have mounds of work.
Sweets are a problem that I used to have but now I just treat myself to a hersheys kiss everynow and then.
Best of Luck and I hope you reach your dream body!
Hi Tricia! I just want to say congrats for doing what you are doing, for facing it and showing up everyday with honesty. Not gaining is great - i’m always happy when i maintain! So you can now face stress and not put weight on, yay! I’ve lost 10 kilos = 22 pounds in about 14 months and i’ve done it by getting up every day and doing my best, and very very slowly changing my habits. So you hold your head up high and never never never give up, and you WILL succeed!
Start making yourself a list of what you can do to manage stress in other ways than eating, it will take practice but you can do it!
Sherri - LOL. I am the worst multi-tasker in the world! When work is keeping me busy, everything else goes on the wayside. I will be updating shortly, but it’s not much of an update.

Stress does tend to throw people back into their comfort habits. One thing that I’ve found though is that if I make myself exercise, I’m much less likely to actually get stressed in the first place and succumb to bad eating habits.
