Weekly Weight Loss Progress: No Change

My weight was still hanging around 234 all last week so it was no surprise to me that when I stepped on the scale this morning it said 234. Absolutely no change from last week.

I wonder if this is my body’s way of fighting back. I’ve been eating quite well this week and keeping under calories. I haven’t been as good with the exercising, but I did get a little bit in (some walking and my elliptical).

I think one of the biggest problems I have right now is time management. I need to figure out how to maximize my waking hours. I think I’ll be busy the next few days reading up on some time management principles.

Are we weight-loss and debt-reduction twins? I started at 247 and I’m now at 233! Keep going! Can you imagine how cool it’s going to feel when we are both debt-free AND healthy! We rock!

I’m also dealing with the problem of not losing any weight…but my diet has been less than perfect!

Sounds like you are doing terrific! Don’t fret the scale.

After a year of dieting I still don’t like it when the scale sticks - but it’s natural. I usually mix up my calorie intake a little - alternate 100 to 200 more a less a day for awhile so the body is fooled and doesn’t get used to what level you are eating. Also it could be a bit of inflammation and\or water retention. Cut back on sodium for a bit. Ask your doctor about taking an aspirin or two a day.

I focus on the big picture — over 80 lbs lost so far, only 60ish to go. Sure I’d love it to be 5 lbs a week - but learning to deal with what ever happens each week.

Hang in there Trish. Your sidebar is still showing that you’re winning this battle: 13.5 lbs lost. Just like with getting rid of debt, there are going to be bumps in the road. But overall, you weigh less than you did when you started this blog. Money and weight are two things that so many people worry about, and most of the time, they worry privately. You’re putting everything out here for all the world to read. You’re way tougher than most people would ever dream of being. I know that you will get to your goal weight, but you’ve already accomplished a lot. Just the weight you’ve already lost has improved your health, and every pound will help. You rock!

Tricia, are you getting good sleep. Not getting enough sleep can really throw off efforts to lose weight even if you are eating right and exercising. I was a skeptic until my sleep became somewhat disturbed during the initial phase of my recent illness and at that time I was eating right and exercising and the weight wasn’t coming off. I’ve always been told I need at least 7 hours per night during this weight loss period. You are doing great though and your debt repayment seems to be going equally as well. Keep it up!

NCN - maybe we are long lost twins! :)

I think a big problem had to do with some water retention. I have had a lot of salt by eating pistachios so I think that wasn’t the best thing to do. I’m really going to try to cut the salt out a little better.

FrugalBabe - good point. I still have lost weight so I’m better off now than when I started this journey. I know I’ll get there, but I think it’s gonna be a roller coaster ride.

Fellows - No, I haven’t been getting good sleep. Too many things going on and I lay down late at night only to stay awake thinking of things I have to do. I probably get about 4-5 hours/day during the week. A lot of that has to do with my poor time management skills. I run out of time to get everything done.

Just hang in there and stick at it. Standing still is far better than going backwards.

I am struggling right now with my weight loss goals but that is because I am in the middle of buying a house and so I’m in between places right now and don’t have my own kitchen for food prep and refrigerator for storage, etc. so I’m eating out more often and have less control over the meals that are cooked and available to me :(

Fortunately, I haven’t gained, but I’m finding loss near impossible. I hope the house closes soon.
