Weekly Weight Loss Progress - Roller Coaster Edition
I’ve been feeling heavier lately. Stepping on the scale this morning my hunch was correct. I gained 5 pounds and I am back to 225.5 lbs.
I can directly relate this weight fluctuation to my monthly cycle. I’m starting to see a little bit of a trend with that. I also wonder a recent visit from a friend had anything to do with it.
I usually do not drink alcohol. After really almost messing up my college education because of it, I basically gave it up. A few years later, I’d have a drink or two every 6 months or so. Before my friend’s visit, I hadn’t drank any alcohol since January. In fact, when I started working to lose weight, I dumped out all of the beer that was sitting in my fridge. I figured that the empty calories were not a good thing so why even still have them sitting there.
My friend brought some drinks and I had some. Ok. I had more than just “some.” I had enough to have a good night’s sleep but not a very nice morning. If anything is a diet killer, it’s booze. And after my not so very nice morning, I don’t want any more booze for quite a while. I got that out of my system for a while.
I’m not happy about the weight gain, but so far it seems like I need to take a step back to move a few steps forward. It’s the roller coaster of weight loss.

I also get regular weight fluctuation associated with my cycle. I’ve just learned to be patient and stick to the program. A plateau, or even slight gain one week will usually mean I’ll lose extra the following week. Its water weight or something.
That said, the gains upward are usually never more than .5 to 1.5 pounds. I’m at about the same weight as you are.
