Weekly Weight Loss Progress - So Close to 10 Lbs Lost

This morning I weighed in at 238.5 lbs, bringing my total weight lost to 9 lbs. I only ended up losing one pound since last week, but I have a feeling a lot of that was due to my back injury. Because of that pain, I pretty much only walked when I had to and did not exercise at all.

Today, my back feels better but it still hurts after standing for a while. I am always timid to get back into the regular groove after an injury but I really need to get active!

Tomorrow is supposed to be a nice day and at the very least I would like to go out walking for a little bit on some even ground. I’m not so sure I want to go out hiking just yet. I may or may not do a few minutes on my elliptical. I have one and it is sitting there collecting dust (for the most part). I would like to get into a routine with working out on that.

Still making progress, but there is a lot more I still need to do :)

Good luck in your weight loss goals! I am struggling, too, and I know how hard it is. You mentioned using Fitday - another good site is sparkpeople.com. There you can log in your food and exercise, chart your weight loss progress, as well as use the many resources there, such as exercise demos, recipes, articles, etc. It’s one of the best sites on the web for losing weight - and best of all, it’s free!

What about biking instead of walking? Do you own a workout bike or know where you can pick one up at a garage sale or craigslist? It does no damage to your legs or back and you can get a great workout in. Also, what about swimming?

Tyler - I don’t have a workout bike, but do have a regular bike. I’m not sure if it’s because of my weight, but my butt hurts so bad after biking even short distances. As for swimming, the thought of getting into a bathing suit to go to a public pool (the only one nearby is at a hotel) makes me shudder. Mid-July, though, Lake Superior should be warm enough some days to go swimming. I really enjoy that, and I can wear shorts and a T-Shirt ;)

Your butt will hurt when biking because its not used it - however, you can help that by wearing padded shorts and/or by buying a padded bike seat that you slip on over your regular one.

FYI, if you start biking regularly, after the first week the pain goes away and your butt shouldn’t hurt any more.
